Roma are putting the finishing touches on a deal with Fenerbahce for Jayden Oosterwolde, satiating their desire to add a young wing-back behind Wesley and Nahuel Molina. He’s set to join them on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the €15/16M clause will be activated not just by his appearances, but also by some personal and team objectives, the final position, and the qualification to the elimination stage of the UEFA Champions League, making it fairly certain that he’ll stay permanently. He’ll eventually sign a four-year deal, earning €1.6M per season. He won’t be available right away, as he’s nursing a thigh problem that will keep him on the shelf until mid-September.

Roma targeted Oosterwolde after striking out for Alessio Cacciamani and not following up on their inquiries for Luis Henrique. The 25-year-old broke out at Twente and at Parma in Serie B between 2020 and 2023. He headed to Turkey on a €6M move and totaled 112 appearances scoring thrice and assisting once.

The Giallorossi will look to bring in another winger to close out their summer window. Chelsea turned down their offer to sign Jamie Gittens on a loan with a €43M option to buy. The Blues paid €60M to add him last season and demand better terms. Malick Fofana lingers as an option, while PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye would be a younger and less established fallback.

Our Take on Roma Signing Oosterwolde

He’s not the most enticing name they tracked for the position, but he has excellent physical traits, is versatile, and his price tag better fits the role he’s going to have compared to other deals they tried to set up.
